Help for Heroes

We all know what a fanastic job these guys do. It's an incredible charity which has helped so many soilders and their loved ones through tougher times than we couldn't even begin to imagine. Help for Heroes supports those who have fought for us, and with dontations and fundraised money the charity receives, they are able to continue to change the lives of people who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Oak Tree Farm Rural Project

This is a charity that is based in my local area. It was initially set up by a group of parents and others interested in providing another option for school leavers with a learning disability and is now a registered charity and a Company limited by Guarantee. Oak Tree Farm provides training and supported occupation for adults with learning disabilities, in a rural environment.

Voluntary Services  Overseas

I served with VSO in 1986/7 after leaving college at a rural school in Fiji in the South Pacific. As a VSO volunteer, you live and work alongside local professionals in developing countries, helping improve the quality of life for people who need it most. And as a volunteer you experience a different culture in a way few people ever can. VSO believes that putting people at the heart of development is the only way to make a real difference in the world.

The Eve Appeal

On behalf of a special friend who bravely fought and won her battle with ovarian cancer in 2012. This is the only national gynaecological cancer research charity in the UK. They work to raise the awareness of gynaecological cancers. Major breakthroughs are already being achieved towards improving survival rates of women with gynaecological cancers through the Department's pioneering research into screening, early diagnosis and risk prediction.

With taking part in such a high profile marathon, I want to use this exeperience to raise as much money as I physically can for a selection of my favourite charities. As my participation in the marathon is 100% self funded, different to some other runners who may be sponsored by a charity, I have no support in raising money for these charities. Please read below for what I believe to be incredible organisations who without fundraised money, would be unable to continue doing the amazing, life changing work that they do.

Please note that All the money I raise from your generous sponsorship will go to the following charities. I am paying all of my own expenses for this experience of a lifetime.
